Portsmouth Historic Dockyard has produced risk assessment guidelines for group leaders which can be used to assist in the completion of a full assessment. As the needs of each group are different it is the responsibility of group leaders to complete a full risk assessment prior to visiting.
For schools with a confirmed booking and to assist with planning and preparation, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard provides complimentary tickets for up to 3 teachers to complete a pre-visit. At weekends and school holidays this can be 1 family ticket instead. Please bring your booking reference number to the Visitor Centre to collect your tickets.
If a school does not have a booking but would like to experience what we offer for education visits we allow free entry for one person. Please contact the Groups and Schools Office directly to arrange this.

For security purposes, we do not have the facility to store lunch boxes or bags so we advise that luggage is kept to a minimum and pupils have backpacks so their hands are free for climbing ladders aboard the ships. We also advise all visitors to wear sensible shoes and dress warmly in cold weather.
