COVID-19

Due to uncertainty around changing COVID regulations and the potential impact of sickness within our teams; Portsmouth Historic Dockyard may be required to adjust opening hours or close sites at short notice. Whilst all efforts will be made to avoid this and to contact ticket holders ahead of visits we do ask you to check our Facebook and Twitter accounts for details of closures. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

Following the recent update from the government on the Covid-19 guidelines, from 10 December 2021 the following safety measures will be implemented when visiting the Historic Dockyard attractions;

  • Face masks must be worn by all visitors aged 11 years or older, unless medically exempt, while visiting the Dockyard and its attractions
  • Visitors are encouraged to pre-booked online, however, walk-up visitors will be accommodated
  • HMS Alliance is a particularly confined space therefore we have taken the decision to enforce mask wearing. Visitors who are medically unable to wear a mask or do not wish to wear one will be politely asked to refrain from visiting this space, we appreciate your understanding in this circumstance
  • Reduced visitor capacity
  • Increased cleaning schedules

We also strongly encourage visitors to our site to continue to follow social distancing practices and register on the track and trace system using the NHS app
