Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is known for its landmark attractions, with each event built around unusual spaces and must-see settings. From the traditional to the musical, we’ve got something for everyone this year.
1. Commemorate Nelson's victory at Trafalgar Night
Dates: Friday 18 October, Saturday 19 October and Friday 25 October
Events don’t come much bigger than this – dinner onboard HMS Victory. But this is no ordinary event; Trafalgar Night commemorates the famous victory of Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar. An evening of lively conversation is to be expected, partnered with a three-course dinner, wine and evening entertainment.
Take in the parading of the beef with drummers as you raise a toast to the man himself. Enjoy an experience like no other, amongst 32-pounder guns – each weighing in excess of 3.75 tonnes. Take note – those interested in attending can benefit from early bird tickets on sale for a limited time.
2. See in Pickle Night onboard HMS Warrior
Date: Friday 8 November
As HMS Pickle sailed into London bringing news of the Georgian navy’s success at Trafalgar, the victory came at a great cost. Lord Nelson had died whilst commanding the fleet. Centuries later, Pickle Night celebrates the arrival of the ship and the sorrow of Nelson’s death.
Before dinner is called, join other guests for a traditional rum tot, in memory of the moment. HMS Warrior plays host to our annual Pickle celebration with a delicious three-course meal, welcome drinks and lively re-enactments from times past about the battle. This legendary experience is perfect for those seeking a unique celebration or anniversary present onboard HMS Warrior.
