Hear about the remarkable story of HMS Alliance, Britain’s only surviving Second World War ocean-going submarine. Find out how this historic submarine adapted to the demands of the Cold War, supported special operations around the world, tested new equipment and has become a fully restored museum attraction. Listen to oral history clips of submariners and look at evocative objects such as a woolly pullies and long johns. We’ll even share the smell of the diesel engines for a real experience of what it was like to live beneath the waves!
