Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is located within Portsmouth Naval Base with entry through Victory Gate at the corner of Queen Street and the Hard.

The Historic Dockyard is less than 5 miles from Junction 12 of the M27. Follow the brown Historic Waterfront signs from the M275 into Portsmouth. There is no dedicated car parking on-site, however there are a number of local car parks all within 5 minutes walk. Please see our car parking page for more information.

Great Value Park and Ride on Saturdays!
A Park and Ride service operates every Saturday between Lakeside North Harbour (signposted from Junction 12 of the M27), the City Centre and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard/Gunwharf Quays. Park all day for just £2.50 per car and up to 7 passengers and jump on the park and ride bus to The Hard - a 2 minute walk from our entrance! The first bus departs Lakeside at 9am and the last bus leaves The Hard at 6pm.

Take a train to Portsmouth Harbour with South West Trains and save money on your Portsmouth Historic Dockyard entry ticket.
You must buy your train and entry ticket together from South West Trains Customer Service Centre or from any staffed train station.

Coach parking - for further information about coach parking please contact our Advanced Sales Department on 023 9283 9766 or e-mail us. The majority of national coach services to Portsmouth stop at the Hard Interchange (adjacent to Historic Dockyard entrance).
Bus
Many local and regional bus services stop at the Hard Interchange (adjacent to Historic Dockyard entrance). Please visit First Bus, Stagecoach or Bluestar Bus services for the most up to date routes and timetables.
Rail
South West Trains run frequent trains from London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour, with a journey time of only 90 minutes. There are also regular services to and from Southampton Central with links to the South West and the West country. Portsmouth Harbour train station is only 200 yards from the entrance to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
Ferry services operate from France, Spain, the Isle of Wight and Gosport on a regular basis.
