On Tuesday (11th May) at 12noon – 1pm (1 hour performance), the Northern Ireland Prison Service Pipes and Drums followed in the footsteps of the Royal Marines Band and performed in the Starboard Arena of Portsmouth Historic Dockyard; under the magnificent gaze of HMS Victory. They then marched down the site to play before visitors to the Mary Rose Museum and outside the Visitor Centre.
The band is formed from 17 members of staff of the Northern Ireland Prison Service and they were fundraising for the national charity Help For Heroes.
They are visiting Portsmouth to support the National Prison Officers Association Conference at the Guildhall (9th-14th May). They will also be performing an hour’s performance at Gunwharf Quays on the 12th May.
Visitors to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard were able to enjoy the performance for FREE!
