An outside advertising campaign depicting three of Portsmouth’s key attractions to promote ‘The Waterfront City’ to visitors has been running at London Waterloo’s underground and rail services and alongside the train line from Clapham.
Portsmouth is fast becoming Britain''s favourite waterfront destination and this new venture sees Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Gunwharf Quays, Spinnaker Tower and Portsmouth City Council (under the banner of ‘Visit Portsmouth’) working in partnership to make the city known to Londoners, commuters and visitors to the capital.
Throughout May, individual partner escalator panels and underground and rail 4-sheet and 6-sheet panels have been displaying some of the best of what Portsmouth has to offer both individually for the attractions and jointly under a striking generic ‘Visit Portsmouth’ banner. These are also supported by large landmark sites in the main Waterloo concourse and across the skyline at Clapham Tower on the Waterloo train line.
The artwork has been designed by local company Starfish, carrying the message ''only 90 minutes from Waterloo'' and passers by can text for more information or visit the dedicated web page www.visitportsmouth.co.uk/tube
It is hoped that this new advertising campaign and venue partnership will encourage people to take the train the short distance to the lively coastline with its irresistible mix of history and heritage, specialist shopping, lively arts, great restaurants and bars and a programme of year round events.
