Installation Assistants (2-3 posts)

Mary Rose Trust, Portsmouth

The Mary Rose Trust is undertaking a £35 million building and development programme to provide a world-class museum for the recovered ship and her artefacts to open at the end of 2012. As part of this project, thousands of objects will be displayed in state-of-the-art showcases, and we are looking to expand our team of object handlers to assist with this installation.

You will work alongside the museum designer, mountmakers, and conservators to ensure the artefacts are moved from their current displays and stores into the new building, always taking care to ensure they are handled safely, and that all documentation is kept up-to-date. You will assist with the wider installation process, helping to ensure all the elements of the final exhibition are in place. This is an excellent opportunity to get first-hand experience of the process of setting up a world-class museum.

Experience of working in a museum or with an archaeological collection is essential, as is care and attention to detail both with handling artefacts and completing associated documentation.
