Events Assistant

Salary:  £7.89 per hour

Hours: 12 hour post and casual posts available

This is 12 hour and casual hours posts working flexibly on a 7-day rota with regular evening work.

The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) is recruiting for an Events Assistant to join the NMRN HQ Events Team.

Key Opportunities
As part of the Events Team:
• Aid in the preparation set up, pre-dinner tours and attending at Corporate/Commercial events  
• Ensure the safety, security and evacuation during all Events on board and within the National Museum of the Royal Navy
• Aid in the delivery of Events for other departments and at other National Museum of the Royal Navy sites

Knowledge/Experience
We are looking for applicants with previous experience of delivering outstanding customer care service.  You will need excellent communication skills, be self-motivated, with a positive and innovative attitude and ideally an interest in history and heritage.

Volunteer at the National Museum of the Royal Navy

We have an exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to volunteer with the NMRN.


We are looking for front of house volunteers to engage with our visitors across our unique and historic attractions, these include:

· HMS Victory

The world’s oldest commissioned warship, Lord Horatio Nelson’s flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar.

· HMS M.33

One of only 3 Royal Navy ships to survive from World War One, served at the Gallipoli Campaign in 1915.

· 36 HOURS: JUTLAND 1916 EXHIBITION (OPENS MAY 2016)

Largest exhibition dedicated at the Battle of Jutland in the world

· NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE ROYAL NAVY GALLERIES

Housed in two Grade I listed buildings displaying artefacts from the beginning of the Royal Navy to the modern day.


We welcome all ages and backgrounds (18+) to volunteer in our ships and galleries.
