It has been over three years since the Mary Rose Ship Hall closed its doors to visitors and work began on a £35million heritage project to build an internationally-renowned new Museum, bringing the hull of the ship together once more with many of the 19,000 artefacts that were raised with her from the seabed in 1982 and complete the conservation of the ship.

When the new Museum opens in 2013, visitors will see the ship for the first time with its preserving sprays switched off, through windows into a 'hotbox', as up to 100 tons of water is removed from the timbers. Artefacts displayed in mirror-image context galleries running the length of the ship will give a sense of what the decks would have looked like moments before Mary Rose sank and six themed galleries will tell the personal stories and working lives of the crew on board.
