Saturday 15 September From 11am Alzheimer’s Society Portsmouth Memory Walk A 3km or 10km walk to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The Portsmouth Memory Walk will start from Castle Field, the most southern tip of Portsmouth. This sunny seafront spot overlooks the iconic Tudor built Southsea Castle and is bordered by a grassy mound which used to protect the city from naval attacks.
Our short walk will guide you along the seafront path towards South Parade Pier and Canoe Lake with spectacular views of the Isle of Wight and the defensive ring of forts sitting within the waters of the Solent.
The long walk will follow the seafront towards the magnificent Historic Dockyard passing many sites of interest along the way, including Clarence Pier, the iconic Square Tower and Gunwharf Quays.
After enjoying sights of the Spinnaker Tower and fantastic ships such at HMS Warrior in Portsea we will head towards Victoria Park for a rest and stroll back towards to Southsea. Traditional fish and chips and old fashioned seaside amusements will await your return. With live music, children’s entertainment, local stalls and seaside refreshments it will be a great day out for the whole family!
Join us for this day to remember! The walk route incorporates the Historic Dockyard. Walkers will walk through Victory Gate, up to HMS Victory, around HMS Victory and back out of Victory Gate again. Why not come down and cheer the walkers on! |
