Dickens the EastEnder
A workshop with screenwriter, Sarah Phelps
Action Stations, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

Sarah Phelps, screenwriter for the BBC adaption of Great Expectations and Oliver Twist, as well as writing over 50 episodes of EastEnders, comes to Action Stations using the idea that Dickens was the original soap writer. Students will get the opportunity to construct their own screenplays, comparing social issues from the 1800s to those of today. This process will end with a screening of the final episode of the BBC adaptation of Great Expectations in Action Stations cinema.
