'Olympic Flame arrives in Portsmouth at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard'

Sunday 15th JulyOlympic Flame arrives in Portsmouth at Portsmouth Historic DockyardThe Olympic Flame is making its journey from Greece and arrived in the UK on 18 May 2012, ready for the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay to begin the following day. Representing peace, unity and friendship, the Flame started its 70 day journey around the UK towards the Stadium carried by 8,000 inspirational torchbearers.


On Sunday, 15 July 2012, the Flame will arrive in the city by water (from Gosport) at about 6pm, and will initially travel through Portsmouth Historic Dockyard; past the world-famous naval vessels HMS Warrior 1860 and HMS Victory.


So come in and to be the first to welcome the Olympic Flame to Portsmouth at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Portsmouth Naval Base along with a host of costumed characters, including Henry VIII, Queen Victoria & Mr Brown and an array of Victorian Dock workers.


All attractions will be closed at 4:30pm. Nauticalia, Boathouse No.7 and Storehouse No. 9 will be the only establishments remaining open after this time. Boathouse No. 7 will also be providing and outdoor barbecue and bar.


We will also be welcoming some community entertainment on site to build excitement for the torch's arrival. This will be taking place all afternoon.


Community Entertainment Performance Schedule


10:00-18:00 - Make a Flag Workshop in Boathouse No 7 Lunch Room Area with the team from Action Stations.


13:15-13:45 - Soulpatch Soul & Blues Band as part of Rantstudio performing for 30 minutes in front of Storehouse No. 9.


14:00-14:30 - Performance by a Rapper as part of Rantstudio performing for 30 minutes in front of Storehouse No. 9.


15:00-15:20 - Devil's Jump Clog Dancers performing for 20 minutes in front of either the Mary Rose Story/ paving slabs in front of the Mast Pond/ Archways of Storehouse No. 9 (dependant on the weather).

15:40-16:10 Performance by a young female singer as part of Rantstudio for 30 minutes in front of Storehouse No. 9.


16:20-16:40 - Devil's Jump Clog Dancers performing for 20 minutes in front of either the Mary Rose Story/ paving slabs in front of the Mast Pond/ Archways of Storehouse No. 9 (dependant on the weather).


17:00-17:15 - Newbridge Junior School Shinbashi Taiko Drum Performance. Performing "Shimabayashi", "The Edge of Magic" & "Fearless" for 15 minutes on HMS Warrior slipway.


17:20-17:30 - The Point Youth Dance Co. (8-11 yrs) Performance of "Meet" for 6 minutes in front of Storehouse No. 9.

17:20-17:40 - Devil's Jump Clog Dancers performing for 20 minutes in front of either the Mary Rose Story/ paving slabs in front of the Mast Pond/ Archways of Storehouse No. 9 (dependant on the weather).


17:45-17:55 The Point Youth Dance Co. (11-14 yrs) Performance of "Meet"  for 6 minutes in front of Storehouse No. 9.

17:56 The Olympic Torch leaves Gosport Ferry Pontoon .


17:57 Big Noise Samba band begin playing in Gosport as the Olympic Torch leaves.


18:00 Batala Samba Band start playing when the Gosport Ferry is halfway across  HMS Warrior slipway.


18:05 The Olympic Torch arrives on the Harbour Tours Pontoon  at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.FREE
