The Trafalgar Experience in the Royal Naval Museum's Victory Gallery, captures the heat of battle on October 21st 1805, immortalised as the day that Nelson led the British fleet to victory but also the day he paid the ultimate price – with his life.
This multi-media experience is based on the very latest research and tells the story of the famous battle and the people who fought in it.
The walk-through experience takes 15 minutes. Take a seat in the Briefing Room, see and hear Nelson and Napoleon explain their tactics and meet some of the main characters.
Walk through to the Gun Deck, an authentic recreation of one section of the Victory, complete with moving guns and a very realistic sound track!
Look on at the bloody scenes from Victory’s cockpit where the wounded and dying were taken for treatment. Hear the words of Surgeon William Beatty as he talks about Nelson's death.
The Experience concludes with W.L. Wyllie's Panorama a huge and very vivid painting of the battle with a special sound and light show.
The Trafalgar Experience does include loud bangs, smoke and some graphic features and therefore parents/carers are advised that it is not always suitable for young children. Our staff are happy to help with any questions.
